Analysis of Triacylglyceride and Conjugated Fatty Acid Compositions in Seed Oils of some Plants of Cucurbitaceae Family in Vietnam

Conjugated fatty acids were known as potential sources for the pharmaceutical industry with beneficial bioactivities, including anti-cancer effects, anti-diabetes, anti-obesity, and anti-inflammatory properties. In present work, characteristics of triglycerides seed oils five plants (Momordica Cochinchinensis (Lour.) Spreng, MomordicaMomordica charantia, Thladiantha nudiflora Hemsl, Trichosanthes cucumerina var. anguina) in Vietnam analyzed by UV FTIR spectroscopy, reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography. Triacylglycerides compositions determined using RP-HPLC DAD detector connected MS series. The M. Cochinchinensis, subangulata, charantia are rich conjugated octadecatrienoic acid α-eleostearic (C18:39E,11E,13Z) base β-eleostearic minor acid. (both punic (C18:39Z,11E,13Z) synthesized approximately equal proportions. T. anguina oil, punicic was main addition, some oil parameters, such yield refractive index these oils, determined.
